Serial numbers 33781 and 33782 of PIA’s Boeing aircraft B777-240LR have been authorized by the United States, authorized by the US Department of Transportation. A flight will be for passengers and cargo.
PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik wrote a letter to the US ambassador and the US State Department asking PIA to allow direct relief flights to the United States.
PIA CEO Arshad Malik further said in the letter that he wanted to bring Pakistanis stranded in the United States due to Corona virus on charter flights. Flight operations have been suspended due to the corona virus, special flights have to be operated, which requires the assistance of the US embassy. It is to be noted that PIA has never operated direct flights to the United States, a PIA spokesman said, adding that the permission for direct flights is a reflection of the improvement in the country’s security situation.
