The virtual meeting of the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association, teachers refuses to acknowledge the new policy of the Higher Education Commission’s research journals.
Prof. Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry, President of Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (Fpuasa) Punjab and General Secretary of Punjab University Academic Staff Association, Javed Sami, has said that the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is embracing hostile policies. The new policy of research journals is akin to embracing research in Pakistan.
He said that the chairman of the Higher Education Commission and his team are deliberately seeking closure of domestic and local research journals, under a particular agenda, the country is already planning to further cease its research activities.
He said that Fpuasa Punjab and PU Staff Association would not allow this.
During the meeting, the teachers strongly condemned the various policies of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Dr Mumtaz Anwar and Javed Sami said that HEC’s policy on research papers from June 2020 is based on education hostility, this is akin to a slamming of the research process in the country.
He said that as a result of this research policy, Pakistani teachers and research scholars would be forced to publish articles in international research journals instead of local research journals. Not only do you have to pay big money but you have to wait for years to publish a dissertation.
