Current Deficit

According to details, the government’s efforts to reduce the country’s current account deficit began to bear fruit. According to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, the deficit for the first nine months of the current financial year was 7.516 billion less than last year, which speaks volumes about the government’s efforts.

The current account deficit for July-March of the current financial year was  2.768 billion while the current account deficit for the same period of the previous financial year was 10.284 billion.

Compared to the previous financial year, the accounts for the two months of the current financial year, February and March, had a deficit of 190 million dollars in February and 6 million dollars in March, respectively. The deficit for the first nine months of the current financial year is equivalent to 1.3% of total GDP, while the current account deficit for the last financial year was 4.7% of GDP.
